Exercise during pregnancy can be safe, effective and fun! Research has shown that there are numerous advantages associated with water exercise that offer both short and long term benefits to both the fetus and the mother. Buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, resistance and water temperature all play an important role in the ideal water fitness environment for prenatal exercisers. This low impact, water workout is an excellent choice for pregnant participants because much of the hopping, jumping and running movements so prevalent in land-based classes are replaced by neutral position movements performed through a full range of motion. This workout includes an abundance of ideas for shallow water cardiovascular and toning exercises.
Learn to plug water-specific cardiovascular, flexibility, and core strengthening activities appropriate for pregnant participants in a water environment. Gain an understanding of how to use the properties of water while still gaining valuable training benefits for pregnant and postpartum participants.
